Fresh Facials and Scrumptious ScrubsI am slowly becoming more and more crunchy in my lifestyle – I’ve not yet made all the changes I hope to eventually, but taking smaller steps allows me to make those changes stick, without overwhelming myself.

One of those changes that I’ve made and that has stuck has been using the oil-cleansing method to clean my face. Yes, I clean my face with oil, and nothing else (well, water is involved too.) It’s worked really well, and I think my skin is as healthy as it’s ever been.

To start the oil-cleanse method, I followed the procedure described on the Crunch Betty website. Combine that positive experience with my affection for the ebook Simple Scrubs to Make and Give by Stacy Karen of A Delightful Home (reviewed here last year), and I was very interested in the Natural Spa Party ebook package. It includes Karen’s Scrubs book, Leslie Martin of Crunchy Betty’s ebook Food on Your Face for Acne and Oily Skin, and Katie Kimball of Kitchen Stewardship‘s new ebook Fresh Facials and Scrumptious Scrubs: Everything You Need to Know to Host a Natural Spa Party.

The package is $9.95 for all three books, and if you are interested in hosting a spa party like one of the ones described in Kimball’s book, there is a group party license available where you are getting rights to share 20 copies of each of the ebooks, so you can provide all of your guests with their own ebooks for $29.95.

There are also lots of bonuses included. I am very interested in the natural cocktails ebook included as a freebie for those who buy the big package. Haven’t seen it yet to know if any of them would be ones I’d actually make, but I’m intrigued.

I really like how Kimball’s ebook made the whole hosting a spa party sound so doable and fun. If I didn’t have young kids and no good space to do it without them wanting to be involved, I’d be seriously tempted to try it! Maybe another year… The make and take party especially seemed like one I could manage, and an excuse to get together with friends and make a bunch of small gifts at the same time? Fantastic.

Despite Martin’s website getting credit for my oil-cleanse success, I wasn’t sure how useful her book would be for me – I don’t have acne, and since changing my face-washing method, my skin is rarely oily. And although yes, much of the book is focused on issues I don’t have to deal with, there was still good information about natural skin care, and many of the recipes work for anyone. So it’s definitely a good one if you’ve got acne or oily skin, but I still learned from it even though mine isn’t.

So, would I buy the package with my own money, and do I recommend it?

Right now, in this season (newborn and two other young children), I’m not hosting a spa party, so that motivation isn’t there. Otherwise, yes, I would buy it. And if you’ve got any interest in hosting that sort of party, I do recommend the full package with distribution licenses so you can share the books with your friends.

If you’re just interested in natural skin care, and have no interest in hosting a party, the price of just Karen and Martin’s books are more than the price of the basic package so that’s still a good deal. And then you get Kimball’s book as well (plus, if you decide you want the 20 licenses later, there’s an option to just buy them).

If you are interested in the package, it’s a limited-time offer. It goes on sale today through October 17.

Disclosure: I received review copies of Kimball and Martin’s books. I already owned Karen’s. This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for supporting The Deliberate Reader!
